John Muelhaupt, coach of the 2008 Devils, was given the DMSBL League Championship Trophy. It is a large traveling trophy that lists the past league champions on it. The Devils managed a outstanding 19-5 record. Year-in and year-out, they continue to be the team to beat in the DMSBL.
Congratulations to TJ Roemmich (OF/P) of the Aces for being the 2008 DMSBL Player of the Year. OTHER LEAGUE NOTES:
- An ALL-DMSBL Team will be selected starting in the 2009 season.
- Teams who do not submit statistics throughout the 2009 season will not be eligible for post season awards.
- Birdland Field will be the home of DMSBL in 2009. The Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department reworked the field and established grass in the fall. It will be ready in time for games in 2009. It is anticipated that the field will not be available for spring practice sessions in order to give the grass as much time to mature.
- The 2009 High School Draft will be held on Sunday, Dec. 21st. Results will be posted soon. Coaches will be in touch with their drafted players. Or, interested players may contact the league.
- Trades are currently being discussed. Any transactions will be posted when available.

HIGH SCHOOL DRAFT RESULTS - CLASS OF 2007
The levee near Birdland Baseball Field breached early this morning. The field is currently under water. According to the Register, water is up to the top of the dugouts. Please avoid the area and check back for more details on future games.
Improvements made to the levee system included construction of a large pumping station near the baseball field. This would allow for quick drainage of the area, but not until flood waters recede to managable levels. We will have to reaccess our status at Birdland once the waters go down.
The DMSBL is actively searching for area baseball fields to supplement lost games at flooded Birdland Field. If you have any knowledge of open fields that might allow the DMSBL to use them, please call Luis at 865-7722 or anyone of the coaches. Thank you in advance!

MARCH 30th -
The DMSBL has made some changes to the schedule format for 2008 to hopefully provide a better experience for both the players and fans. This year, teams will play 12 - 9-inning games and 6 doubleheaders for a total of 24 regular season games. Each team will be assured at least 2 post season games in the double elimination formatted DMSBL League Tournament (Note: the floods of 2008 have forced us to change this to a single elimination tournament due to time and field restraints). Also, teams will have an opportunity to qualify for the IABA State Tournament played in Des Moines and the Cedar Rapids area. Last year the DMSBL sent 5 teams.
